Unlock the Power of NIAID-Funded Influenza Samples for Your Research
The Clinical Biospecimen Repository is a centralized collection of influenza-related biological samples gathered from completed National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID)-funded studies. These specimens are made available to researchers for secondary research purposes in order to contribute to the global understanding of influenza and its impact on public health. Our repository serves as a valuable resource for scientific exploration and provides researchers with high-quality samples they might otherwise not have access to.

Free to Request Influenza Samples
All samples have been collected under the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) studies, ensuring high-quality, diverse data for influenza research. Requesting from our repository is free with requesters only paying for shipment upon approval.

Easy Browsing and Request Process
A user-friendly interface allows you to search for specific sample types, and characteristics to find exactly what you need. You can request samples based on your research intent, whether for published studies, clinical trials, or further investigations.
Learn More About the Repository
The Clinical Biospecimen Repository was established with the goal of advancing scientific research and discovery in the field of influenza. By providing access to high-quality, NIAID-funded samples, we aim to support researchers in exploring new treatments, understanding viral behavior, and developing strategies to combat influenza. This free resource ensures that valuable samples collected during completed influenza studies are made available to investigators to support a wide range of secondary research.
Browse the Available Influenza Samples
- Filter by Sample Type (e.g., blood, tissue, serum, nasal swabs).
- Filter by Study (e.g., study phase, start date).
- Filter by Demographics (e.g., age, sex, ethnic background).
- Browse: Use our search tool to find samples relevant to your research.
- Review: Review the sample details and ensure they meet your needs.
- Submit Request: Complete the request form and submit it for DMID approval.
- DMID Approval: Once approved, we will coordinate the shipping and delivery of the samples.
What Happens After You Submit a Request
After submission, you will receive an email confirmation from the iDPCC Coordinating Center. The iDPCC will review your request within two business days and forward it to NIAID for evaluation, which typically takes up to four weeks and may include clarifying questions. NIAID, with PI input, then issues approval or non-approval within two business days.
If approved, NIAID and your institution will finalize agreements. The biobank will then coordinate fulfillment of the biospecimen request, a process that can take up to four weeks.
Timelines are estimates and may vary based on the availability of the responsible parties.
